Project "DA MPAY " Elementary S chool

to Amungan - Zambales in PHILIPPINES

We are Filipino-Italian mixed couples Trevis oe for many years, we re c Hiam in Philippines at his wife's relatives, originating in that country. Through the years ... many years, we have acquired some knowledge of qu el country especially in the island of Luzon, and do what we can to give aid to the poorest. S Pesso to ccumuliamo summer clothing provided by friends and neighbors to send it there. The beneficiaries are in the village of Amungan and have really need all . The shipment of a parcel costs € 140!

C i would take a book to tell how life and the environment in Philippines . Just in a few pa role for of king that we are one " poorest of the poor" and that, when you're there, it is natural to want to do something. They poseggono between what and what we have, there is an abysmal gap. All those who have tried these experiences have said "but how many useless things we have!"

In July 2006 is But something very the arning in a village 220 km from Manila: the village of Amungan in the province of Zambala s . What happens is that one day two elementary teachers ask one of us a small contribution to their school. Thus begins the birth of a project, the birth of our association.

The Dampay Elementary School seems (and is) a structure been abandoned for years. To worsen the situation years ago helped a violent typhoon which literally tore the roof half classrooms. Student body and staff must be adapted in the three existing classrooms in need of major interventions (roof to be redone, plumbing and electrical, desks, tables, cabinets to be replaced). Then there are the other 3 walls for classrooms. These must be completely constructed. Now many Italians, many citizens tell us " I highly recommend the school! " Amungan in the distant village, to 17,000 km from Treviso.
photos that you see were taken in feb 2008 and aio attualment and still do.

E 'a school surrounded by houses like this, most which we define as huts .

It 's a public school frequented by those who can not afford private school . The three existing classrooms are working in dilapidated and precarious state of school furniture. The roof, the facilities and services are to be redone. All furnishings are to be replaced. They are used for more different subjects.

These children are children of fishermen, farmers, collectors of cans, glass, paper. In non-school hours they already know to look after the smaller ones and girls are already very accountable housework. When we arrived the school children went to the house to see the rare western (which for them is whether mpre an American "kano") greeting "Hi Jo, greeting inherited from the last war when the Americans Japanese liberated the country from the invader.

THIS HAPPENS TO AMUNGAN
When we is spring, there is the dry season and the sun beats down mercilessly . Then when the summer starts here, arriving in the region of monsoon rains, and typhoons transitan or more or less violently on the ground, causing damage to poor houses. We ourselves are st ati Testim oni of roofless partial "case" of the village women and children inside, with strong wind and rain bitterly. It 's a co know disconcerting, a "reality" of those who are not used to seeing. On these occasions you can not remain indifferent currents. P urtroppo even buy a few yards of the simple wire, represents for many a sacrifice. When there is drought, fortunately while we are fed up with panettone, the rice here costs more expensive. To buy it, i pesos are few and many mouths.
There is here a little girl (neighbors) who pr
obabilità might in future be forced into prostitution. How
in all countries in the tropical climate, the cataract is on the eyes of many people. There are many children with this disease that should keep it for years waiting for the money to operate.
Periodically, camps Amungan, the cobra (Naja Naja the) victim kills some (six bite today and tomorrow are already a corpse), thus leading to real bars to eliminate as many snakes as possible.
The general situation would quote many problems that typically affect children, women and the elderly. The reading is too long and it is best that I limit myself to the village of Amungan, where there is too much to do.

That year we took the decision to do something more. After sensitized many people we decided to stabilize our position and associarc i; in q HIS way we could also encourage tax our future sp onsor and donors.
Thus was born the idea of an association that would be "KAIBIGAN - non-profit organization" Association of a NO PROFIT apolitical and nonsectarian. Everything was founded by a group of ordinary people.
In February 2008 during a family trip, in consultation with the Directorate of Elementary School Dampay Have
love about LCOL ato in the 12 thousand Euro needed for materials and work: construction of 3 classrooms, and renovation of existing interventions at 3, purchase of furniture with desks, tables, cabinets, etc. .- Our Vice President Mario returned from the Philippines for a family trip could make the findings and assess the situation in a professional manner Dampay.
E 'through this blog that call for a free useful contribution to the project.
The initiative is beautiful and honest. This is why many do not invite us to give up but to go forward without being discouraged.
The contribution for the school will be in accordance with Philippine local authorities (mayor, local police station, school management) and will be documented by photos, videos and documentation paper signed by the various parties inter
vali. P er g plowing the proper use of money will take care of the person purchasing the necessary materials and to pay for those who perform work. Therefore we will stay (at our expense) in the village until work is completed, allowing them to document the successful intervention.
